These briefs present hospital inpatient and outpatient utilization rates for ambulatory care sensitive conditions (ACSC) in Florida. The briefs use relative rates to make comparisons of ACSC rates between and within urban and rural areas for different demographic subpopulations. Separate analyses were conducted for pediatric and adult conditions.

Facility Utilization by County (Tracking Cross-County Movement of Patients for Hospital Care)

This analysis identifies Florida's facility utilization by tracking the cross-county movement of patients and determining where patients seek their hospital care using the 2008 Inpatient Discharge data collected by the Florida Center for Health Information and Policy Analysis at the Agency for Health Care Administration.

Freestanding Comprehensive Rehabilitation Utilization Report

This report summarizes freestanding comprehensive rehabilitation hospital utilization data from 1995 through 2009.

Medicare Spending at U.S. Hospitals

Kaiser Health News releases an interactive tool to show how much the federal program spends for the average patient admitted at a specific hospital, compared to how much Medicare spends per patient nationally. This measure includes all payments to doctors, hospitals or other facilities for services provided to a patient during the three days before the hospital stay, during the stay, and during the 30 days after discharge from the hospital.
